Can an ADHD Coach Help You?

How does the process work?
ADHD coaching is a close, ongoing partnership.

Coaching sessions cover what's going on in your life, with an emphasis on challenges, opportunities and strategies for success.

Most coaches also provide phone or email support when needed between sessions, and give homework that helps the client accomplish his or her objectives.

Coaching sessions tend to take 40 to 45 minutes three or four times each month, often by telephone.

Telephone coaching works especially well with ADHD, because visual distractions are out of the way, and you don't have to worry about getting there on time or what to wear. You can really focus on the conversation.

Plus, it's easier to select a coach, since they don't have to live in your area.

How long do the sessions last?
Most clients work with their coach for at least six months and often for about a year. By the end, you should feel very positive, self-sufficient and capable of maintaining your new life skills.

How do I find a coach who will meet my needs?
Ask your doctor or therapist for a referral, or search the ADHD Coaches Organization's database[1] of certified coaches.
