Ready to shape up? To help you kick-start your New Year's resolutions, we asked for advice from the expert trainers on "The Biggest Loser," NBC's weight-loss competition show. Read on to learn their favorite health and fitness tips …
You don't have to go on TV to get health, fitness and weight-loss help from "The Biggest Loser." On the following pages, trainers Jennifer Widerstrom, Bob Harper, Dolvett Quince and Jessie Pavelka, along with host Alison Sweeney, offer advice to help make your New Year's resolutions stick.
Jennifer Widerstrom joined "The Biggest Loser" as a trainer in Season 16. She's no slouch when it comes to fitness competitions: She previously was a cast member on "American Gladiators."
Here are her top tips for getting in shape:
1. Play more sports. It's such an accessible thing for men, and allows them to do more active, dynamic, athletic-based movements. If women did more of that, I think they would love what they saw in the results.
2. Follow your word. Build confidence by knowing that if you say you're going to the gym tomorrow, you'll actually go. That's when people succeed.
3. Eat more fat. What people don't realize is when manufacturers take fat out of products, they're adding more sugar. You need good fats, like those from nuts and avocados. It helps your hair, skin – you'll look fabulous.
