ADHD App #9: MindNode[1] (iPhone, iPad, Mac; $9.99)
MindNode helps you visualize your ideas while taking notes, creating to-do lists, solving problems or outlining a book or article.
The technique, known as "mind-mapping," is a useful tool for the ADHD brain, which tends to process things visually, Rayburn says.
"MindNode is a graphic way of getting ideas out of your head and onto paper – and since people with ADHD often respond better to creative ways of organizing information, this is a good app to try out," she notes.
ADHD App #10: Remember the Milk[2] (iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry; free)
Adults with ADHD need plenty of help remembering small tasks, such as picking up milk or bread on the way home from work. This free app allows you to create to-do lists of 1 item or 50, as well as an online backup that syncs these lists – or simple reminders – across all your devices. It also syncs with Evernote, so it's easy to use the two apps together.
Since its launch in 2005, Remember the Milk has had plenty of time to add features that make it increasingly easy to use. But those extra bells and whistles may distract some people who have attention issues, according to Steve Etheridge, a Chicago-based writer with ADHD.
