Leading a healthy lifestyle, and possibly living longer, may be easier than you think. Best-selling author and CBS medical correspondent David Agus, M.D., has some simple tips for preventing disease, now and in the future. Here are his prescriptions for well-being…
Want to live a longer, healthier life? It isn't all that complicated, according to a prominent physician.
All you need to do is focus on small changes[1] that could have a big effect on your health, says oncologist and medical researcher David Agus, M.D., a professor at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles.
An aspirin a day for your heart, grabbing some "me time" and eating fresh foods … to name a few.
Research has already told us what we need to do, according to Dr. Agus, author of best-selling books A Short Guide to a Long Life[2] (Simon & Schuster, 2014) and The End of Illness[3] (Free Press), who has made it his life's work to help people live longer, more fulfilling lives.

Dr. Agus recently stopped by Lifescript's offices to share his simple, step-by-step prescription for health. Here's what he had to say:
LIFESCRIPT: What's the one thing women are doing right for their health?
DR. AGUS: They're running around all the time! That's the greatest thing you can do for your health. Our bodies [are] designed to move all day.
We used to think that an hour at the gym every day made us healthy, [but that's not enough time spent moving]. And then we would go to work [and sit] for hours.
